What's the biggest business decision you have had to make over the past year?
I moved my home from Brussels to Monaco in 2007 where the weather is a bit warmer! Also, I purchased my very first care home back from my old company, Four Seasons Health Care – 20 years after first buying it!

Awards – ego trips for the bosses or are they good for companies?
Generally a distraction. I have seen too many examples over the years of bosses of various companies winning awards only to then see their companies suffer badly in the aftermath.

E-mails – blessing or a curse?
E-mail, working as I do across three time zones, is an absolute blessing – I just could not manage to function without my Blackberry.

Corporate entertainment – waste of money or can it bring in business?
Done right it is a good business tool and worthwhile – 24/7 networking is the key to success in business in my opinion. Also, people generally prefer if at all possible doing business with people they like.

If money was no object what would you do/ buy?
I'd buy a "super yacht" to entertain family and friends along the coast of the French Riviera – Monte Carlo, St Tropez etc.

What's left for you to achieve?
Plenty, both with my family, and in my business career and of course, having fun growing old disgracefully! Life is not a dress rehearsal, as they say.

Best car ever driven?
What can I say, boys and their toys. It has to be the Aston Martin DB5 – the original James Bond car.

Worst habit?
Despite my best endeavours it has to be my timekeeping which can sadly be quite poor.

Best trait?
If at first you don't succeed, and it's worth going for, then try, try, try again. When necessary I can be extremely persistent.

Most amazing thing that's happened to you?
It was the birth of my first child, a darling girl and life has never been the same since.

What makes you good?
My wife! Need I say more? She's a lawyer after all!
